UW establishes $10 million recruitment fund

Facing drastic budget cuts handed down by the Wyoming Legislature in 2016, the University of Wyoming started boosting its recruitment and retention efforts.

From streamlining the transfer student enrollment process to greatly increasing outreach to potential Native American students, UW President Laurie Nichols and the Office of Academic Affairs made clear efforts throughout the 2016-17 academic year to bring more students to UW and keep them here. And efforts to recruit and retain faculty and staff are especially important following a year in which UW lost roughly 370 employees through position eliminations, separation incentives and staff layoffs.
