Wyoming community advocates to host placemaking trainings

Community development experts are offering workshops around Wyoming this spring to teach local leaders how to create interesting, well-loved places on a tight budget.

The Wyoming Business Council is teaming with the Wyoming Association of Municipalities to teach six placemaking workshops throughout the state between March 21 and April 21 in Worland, Fort Laramie, Riverton, Bear River, Rawlins and Gillette.

Placemaking is a method of using low-cost materials and temporary exhibitions to demonstrate how neglected public spaces can become treasured community places.

The Business Council, the state’s economic development agency, provides grants for these projects through its Wyoming Main Street and Rural Development programs.

To qualify, communities must first attend a placemaking training.
